I want to start with a quick update on the SECURE Act, which continues to gain momentum across the country.
As a reminder, the SECURE Act allows political candidates to use campaign funds for professionally installed security systems. With the rise in threats targeting candidates and elected officials, this legislation is designed to help ensure they can access legitimate security services.
We’re seeing real progress. Alabama became the first state to pass the legislation, and in Oregon the bill has passed the legislature and is now with the governor.
Beyond that, ESA is actively working to advance the SECURE Act and bill introductions have occurred in 16 states. We have been active in committee testimony and direct engagement with lawmakers.
900 MHz Update
I also want to provide a quick update on our efforts to protect the Lower 900 MHz spectrum band.
ESA launched a grassroots action alert encouraging members to contact Congress, and we’ve seen strong engagement from the industry, with many members personalizing their messages to lawmakers.
Looking ahead, we are anticipating that the FCC could issue a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) within the next 60 days or so, which would formally begin the regulatory process. We’ll continue working with industry partners and keeping members engaged as that process unfolds.
